lok.pro launched from Barcelona in 2023 with a simple premise: the best local guides are written by people who live somewhere — not SEO farms, not algorithmic aggregators, not paid-placement directories pretending to be editorial.

We curate 121 cities across six continents. For each one, we index eight types of places that define neighborhood life: cafés, bars, restaurants, shops, culture, stays, services, and wellness. Every listing is verified against public sources — official websites, business registries, press coverage — before it goes live.

What we cover

Places people actually visit. Third-wave coffee roasters, natural wine bars, tasting-menu restaurants, neighborhood trattorias, boutique bookshops, boutique hotels, jazz clubs, hammams, barber shops, photographers — anything that makes a neighborhood feel like a neighborhood. We do not cover chain outlets, franchises, or generic aggregator listings.

How we research

Our editorial team verifies each listing against at least two independent public sources. We do not scrape user reviews and present them as editorial coverage. We do not accept payment for placement or ranking. If a place stops operating, we archive the profile and mark it accordingly.

Coverage priorities

We expand coverage by filling the least-populated city × type combinations first. If you visit Vienna or Seoul or Marrakech and see only a handful of listings today, expect those numbers to grow every week as we work through the worldwide index systematically.

Our team

Editorial is led by Marta Ribas from Barcelona, with a distributed network of contributors covering major markets across Europe, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Oceania.
